According to Erik Korem: “Low levels of DC potential (0 – 19mV) indicate a decreased level of arousal, a more rapid onset of physiological and psychological exhaustion, diminished adaptive capacity and low functional reserve. Moderate levels of DC Potential (20 to 40 mV) indicate an optimal level of arousal, a state of high adaptability to endogenous 57 and exogenous stressors, optimal state for learning new habits and a high functional reserve. High levels of DC potential (41 mV and above) indicate a high level of physiological and emotional tension, high psycho‐emotional stress and limited adaptability to endogenous and exogenous stress. Also, high levels of DC potential may indicate a negative adaptive syndrome in athletes.”

The graph we present today is Yerkes-Dodson Law (U-inverted Law) stating that arousal improves performance up to an optimal point. Despite being more than a century old, the Yerkes-Dodson law is still very useful today. In fact, it’s still being studied, especially in work and sports performance. Research conducted between 1950 and 1980 confirmed that there is a correlation between high stress levels and boosted motivation and focus.
